FMG 1-From my garden-Okra

Guess which vegetables's flower? There is a clue if you just look closely.
Yes,it is a Okra flower (vendaka).I caught the guessing bug from LG and now my vegetable knowledge seems to be increasing.
Last year, my mom had got seeds and we had a couple of wonderful okra plants. Good taste too. This year, had to resign myself to the plants from the nursery. It gives me an okra every alternate day, but the taste is a little dry. Anyway, so every weekend I am left with 3-4 okras. Just the right amount for a Okra Relish.(Vendaka Thottu Kootan.)I don't know how else to name it in english. So let me a get a snap of it and the recipe will be presented.

  10. Hello Shaheen,
I am so happy that somebody from Malabar has actually put a beautiful site with pictures of good food and plating. The Food of Original Malabar people is listed here. Original Malabar food and the original people are so distinguishable. I have studied and worked in Trivandrum and Madras, for a total of 7 years , i still cannot digest their food and the hard dark colored spices. The Original Malabari's are a mixture of Kashmir/Arab/Lebanese/Iranian/Native upper caste hindus. It does not include all the people of Calicut because the Arabs and British have also left some servants from africa who became either muslim/christian/jewish.
